Fall Break
Oh gosh, already half the first sem is gone! 1/16th of my career at Duke is over...=
Man I've really had so little time and energy to write in my diary, let alone blog. To all friends far and near, I still think of you all! I just don't always look like it.
I have however, been writing more literary pieces than ever before thanks to English 109 (Creative Writing). One of my better examples:
13 Ways of Looking at a Mirror
After Wallace Steven's 13 Ways of Looking at a Blackbird
I.
If I switched places
with a mirror
would anyone notice?
II.
my self
mirror
myself
III.
There is a mirror
on the wall.
It is the fairest
judge of all.
IV.
One o’clock. The cuckoo’s call flits
like light down a hallway of mirrors.
V.
In a maze of mirrors,
which is the real me?
VI.
At midnight,
if you look
into
a mirror,
you’d see yourself
as you would look
At midnight.
VII.
There is a huge mirror
between water and sky.
We call it
the horizon.
VIII.
Your eyes
Are mirrors
To my soul.
IX.
I have a mirror
in my pocket.
It wards off vampires
and self-doubt.
X.
Inside
the kaleidoscope,
the mirrors
were dancing.
XI.
He observed me craftily,
out of the corner of his eye, like
an innocuous mirror.
XII.
A mirror
is never
surprised.
XIII.
Once upon a time,
there lived
a mirror.
