My Birthday Invite!
Hi all!
Ok so the details for my 21st bday party are more or less confirmed. Do look at the details below and most imptly RSVP me at davidt84 AT singnet DOT com DOT sg if you can make it/are coming! This is because I'm not going to cater food (which tends to be boring food), but am asking my relatives to bring out all their secret family recipes and make their special foods. So I'd like as precise an estimate of guests as I can possibly hope to get.
DETAILS:
Date:
17 June for the folks from RI/1uRV/CAP/GEP/NYPS, 18 June for the folks from VJ S61, VJ WC, VJChoir, and relatives. It's in the evening (5pm till whenever) but I suppose you can start streaming in at 4pm if you have nothing better to do =)
Location: 35 Soo Chow Way
It’s easily within 100m of Thomson Plaza so if you want it easier, or are lost, just go there and then give me a ring at 65540451 or 98627133. I’ll stroll over and pick you up.
To get there:
Buses that pass by: 132, 162, 163, 165, 166, 167, 410, 980, 855
Nearest MRT: Bishan. Take the GREEN PLATE (not white plate!) 410 bus at the interchange. Drop at the third stop after RI (ie the second stop after RJ), you should have just passed by the large hawker centre called LONGHOUSE to your left before hitting the Bus Stop button.
From that bus stop, walk inland taking the right-hand road, past a car dealership. Follow the road at it bends to the right (you’d still be walking past the car dealership). Take the first left, and walk uphill till #35.
If you’re coming from Thomson Plaza (TP): Outside TP there is an overhead bridge. Assuming you start at its foot, walk against the flow of the main road’s traffic, and then turn right, walking uphill. Ignore the first left, and walk further uphill, passing by the side exit of TP on your right. Take the second left (you’d have to cross the road). Walk down the road, you should pass by a park on your left side with houses on your right side. Ignore the barking dogs. Walk till this road meets another, forming a T-junction. In front of you will be a row of houses, arranged perpendicular to the road you just walked down. Look for #35, or the noisiest house, whichever is easier to identify at that time.
AMUSEMENTS:
Sadly there is no pool for dunking. However there is a good-sized park nearby if, for whatever reason, you need a large space for your nefarious activities.
Cards--pretty standard.
Idle banter/crap talking
Mahjong? I don't have a set but could borrow one. If you're feeling kind you could bring your mahjong set for the good of everyone =)
Board games: I've got the boring old Scrabble/Monopoly etc, is all. Unless people actually want to play a computer version of crazy old boardgames/wargames like Battletech.
If anyone wants, feel free to bring a Playstation/Xbox. Though those things can be a bit anti-social...
I have a crazy idea of playing on the spot RPGs, like Exalted or DnD. But these are not fast games, and may consume most of the evening, so we’ll see.
Well folks, do tell me if you're coming, and er well give me suggestions if you have any on how to liven up the party (without causing me personal harm, embarrassment, or both)
Cheers,
David.
