Weekend report
Friday:At the office on Fri, I spent 2 hours preparing myself for the cul ture in Duke Uni. In other words, I played basketball. The lifeblood and THE game for most Dukes. Am getting better at it, must improve peripheral vision and 360 degrees situational awareness though. And of course lack of depth/distance perception tends to make sinking shots difficult, but certainly not impossible.
saturday:Missed breakfast, a bad start to a tiring if full day. After knocking off at noon went home had lunch tried to get a quick nap and left for Church to attend Karen and Kevin's wedding. Sermon was meaningful and thought-provoking (topic was, of course, Love) and the lucky couple were, of course, sweet. As Daniel said, Love is not an emotion (not like anger, sadness etc), it is an attitude and (my opinion) perhaps even a way of life. This may be handy to remember as I strive to gain Clearsight--my own word for a state of being that is blessed with openness of mind, balance of emtions, freedom of thought, depth of wisdom and keenness of perception. (memo to self: I still haven't figured out the "Love is God and God is Love" adage. Is it literal or figurative or both? More research/thought on it when free)
Stayed on after the wedding reception to nap for 2 hours (managed to sneak into an empty classroom and slept on a table) then go for worship practice. Moderate initial hitches & miscommunication problems, but it ended well, if quite late.
sunday:Did backup vocals for worship. Went decently. Then ye elders of Crossover Adrian & Cherene shared, to gain publicity and recruit for future Crossover members. And Daniel's sharing was quite something. Lemme recall the main points:
1) Providence: God Provides. Yep, there're so many instances of this too in my life. No mere coincidence can explain away all those.
2) Idols: Is there someone/something more precious to you than even God Himself? A loved one, even family member? Remember the Lord giveth, the Lord taketh away. How can you claim what you don't own? How can you demand what you had no part in creating? Yet we do anyway. We're human.
3) Skeletons in our closests. The debilitating insidious hold of the Accuser. What is hidden away from human sight that constantly nibbles at your conscience.
The prayer session after that was quite something too. Alot of pple came up to be prayed over, prayed for. The detatched reflexive non-(more like anti-)conformist in me kicked in so didn't go up. Also didn't feel any calling or need to, so decided to let others in (apparently) more need go. Just felt it was enough to be there, seated in an audi of one people, with voices variously undulating in praise, supplication and weeping. The flow somehow around but not quite through an unbelonging me. But that's another essay for another entry.
Yup so that's the relatively busy weekend in review. To be sure I've had worse though (notably around Os and As).
Am blessed to be alive, however narrowly. ;)
[EDIT: if you can't quite understand the entry, it's all right. James Joyce I'm not, but all diary entries are to some extent stream-of-consciousness-esque. It's the only way to capture raw & fairly unfiltered thoughts]
